More and more those companies are looking to Flash developers to help them add rich functionality to their Fan pages. Facebook is quickly becoming a great platform for Flash developers. This session will go over the basics of developing Facebook applications with a slant of Flash development.
Danny runs a consulting company in Minneapolis called Patterson Consulting that specializes in Flash and Flex development. He's an Adobe Community Expert, Flex Developer Champion and has published over 40 articles on RIA technologies. He recently wrote the book Advanced ActionScript 3.0 with Design Patterns and He's one of the authors of Flash 8 ActionScript: Training from the Source; both published by Adobe Press. Danny is the manager of the Minnesota Flex/Flash Programmers User Group called MN.swf and is one of the organizers of this event.
The Flex framework has been the talk of the town. Flex Builder 3 paved the way for many developers to build cross platform RIA's at a fraction of the cost. This session will take a look at Flash Builder 4, which is the next evolution of Flex Builder 3. We'll explore the Flash Builder development environment while looking at what's new in the Flex 4 framework. Topics covered in this session will be ActionScript 3.0, MXML, creating custom components, skinning components, loading external data, item rendering, and general development workflow. This session is perfect for someone new to Flex development or who has no experience with the Flex 4 framework.
This session is a HANDS-ON session and attendees will be required to provide their own laptop and install a beta copy of Flash Builder 4. Installation instructions will be sent out prior to the conference. Space is limited so this session will require an additional registration. During the presentation we will cover how the data is made available and the overall architecture of the flex chart and it's components.

A good preloader can be tricky, particularly if you want to dynamically load in assets such as movie clips, images or fonts at runtime. We’ll walk through the problems that you can run into and some concrete interfaces and classes for handling effective preloading. We’ll also spend some time discussing lazy-loading in the application.
